Has anyone had any issues with XP and SP1. I was able to do ripping with before I installed SP1. Now when I try an rip It just never works anymore. I've tried using DVDdecrypter and Smartripper with Ifoedit, and If oedit chokes every time. Say it can't find the DVD (?) or if I do get a screen it say the it can't play in this region... Am I the only one here...
Thanx

I have XP Pro SP 1 and have no dificulties. I'm sure you've tried adding an ASPI layer such as Force ASPI and made sure your ripping drive is in DMA mode. You might try vstrip and vstrip gui available from Doom9.org

I had a similar issue when I installed a new motherboard and SP1 (so I'm not sure which one is to blame).
Re-installing the ASPI fixed it.
Go here:
http://www.clonead.co.uk/
Go to 'Latest Downloads' and grab the Adaptec ASPI 4.71.1
It works well under Win XP.
Good luck.My system:
Abit Ic7G
P4 3.0C @ 3.98 GHz
2x512 MB DDR 500 ram
WinXP Pro
ATI Radeon X800pro
5x120 GB Western Digital ata100
TDK Velocd 48x16x44

it may have messed with your aspi layer so if U go to doom9.net & get the force aspi & put this on, hopefully this should correct it.

Or try running your DVD in PIO mode. That fixes problems for many people. UDMA is better, but PIO works just fine

Ok, here's the scoop... I do have the ASPI layer installed, so that looks ok. I CAN play the DVD normally on my system, but when I use "smart or dvd decrypter" followed by Ifoedit the following happens..
No Valid DVD Volume could be located.... I continue...
Then when within Ifoedit and I hit DVD Play to see what VOB's I need, It starts to play and then say's "Player is incompatible with the region marking" ...
I'm at a real loss here... I have looked in the control panel to make sure I'm really in the US...I have also removed the RCE during the RIP.... I'm at the point of reinstalling XP, which is not what I really want to do.. Any idea's ?
Thx

Try removing region checking with IFOEdit. I find sometimes when using Decrypter it doesn't remove region checking even when it is set to. Then I have to use IFOEdit to do this. Check all IFO's.

Did that, with no resolution.. I tried this again on another "Virgin" install of Xp to no avail. IFOEDIT still states that the it can paly in this region. I can however play the ripfine with Power DVD... Very wierd indeed... I hope someone can chime in here ...
Chow...

Well after some testing I finally got it to work. Some of the issues that I had was that I needed to tell IFOEDIT to recreate the IFO's and then had to rename the VOB's starting at "1". Then when burning with Nero, I had to use UDF version 1.5... Hopefully this will work with further rips... Go Figure.....
