I have recently attempted to capture from my Sony DCR-PC5 with Adobe Premier and i am not having any success at all.
The camera is connected through IE 1394 firewire to a DV Raptor card.
I can capture with the DVRaptor software, but i wanted to also try Adobe Premier that came with it.
The problem is that it isnt detecting my camera, and i am not getting any video to playback on my pc. It all works fine with DV Raptor software, but not with premier.
I have had a pretty good search around for solutions to this, but i cannot find an answer.
In Premier, Under "capture" in project settings it says:
capture format: DV/IEEE1394 Capture-Unable to connect to capture driver
i assume this is the problem, but i have no idea how to fix it. I would have thought its working ok if i can connect with DVRaptor.
Has anybody had similar issues, or know any possible solution?
Appreciate any comments. I am running Windows XP btw.
Thanks in advance.

Steps in installation has a lot to do with this. Premiere should be installed first. Then place your Raptor card in, install the driver, the Raptor software, and then install the Premiere Plug-in.
Capture-wise, I really don't see any advantage in doing it on Premiere, as against doing it using Raptor-Video. You'll see the advantage when you do the editing (Premiere vs. Raptor-Edit).
