Hi everyone,
Thanks for a great forum and great pages filled with so much helpful information and links. I've been doing a lot of MPEG-2 encoding using TMPGEnc now. However I've experienced some weird behavior from this program.
If I try to encode, say a 1.5 hr movie after ripping it with SmartRipper from a DVD, and frameserved and decoded the soundtrack with DVD2AVI. TMPGEnc analyzes the whole movie and starts encoding, but towards the end (90+ % done) TMPGEnc stops and hangs. It works great if I do the movie in two segments (first half and then last half).
I decided to try and encode a shorter movie, so I ripped a 20 second company intro/logo sniplet, and at around 90+% again TMPGEnc just exits without any errors.
Any ideas? I'm using v2.58 of TMPGEncP+ with DVD2AVI 1.76+ and SmartRipper 2.41.
Oh, another thing I have encountered is problems decoding/frameserving a long movie. The other day I ripped Insomina and at around 90%+ DVD2AVI would just stop and hang when frameserving/decoding soundtrack. Again, I worked around this problem by running DVD2AVI on first half of movie first, then second half and avoided the hang-problem.
Thanks for any input on the subject.
