  4. Ok, I have that too, so if you want to capture from your VCR copywright Material and to remove the macrovision to capture with your ATI TV Capture Program you need the patch on this page under ATI http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/articles/macrovision_graphics.html , but if you are trying to record from one vcr to another you need a special hardware device they have at Best Buy to remove the macrovision. Let me know if any of this helps

  5. dvfan I checked out the link. It talks of the ATI AIW Tweaker and the Cinemaster engine. The ATI Tweaker is applicable only for DVD player and not for capturing from a VHS source. I could not find the Cinemaster engine as there were no files at the link.

I am also facing the same problem of not being able to copy from VHS to VCD because of Macrovision. Any workarounds ???

  6. To disable macrovision, you can get a "Sima CopyMaster" from BestBuy, they are 50 bucks but worth the investment.

  10. I have an ATI AIW 128 with 32MB Ram. How did you work around the macrovision problem. The ATI Tweaker only changes stuff for the DVD Player and not for the TV Tuner.

  12. Ratz, did you download the RAGE 128 Tweaker or the Cinemaster engine? Could you please elaborate on the steps you followed. Thanks

  13. Jinu: Its NOT the tweaker you use for the ATI Macrovision problem its something else its right there on that site, not the cinemaster program either, that is no longer available

  14. I tried another utility called the macrovision remover, this utility actually hunts for the atinmdxx.sys file and patches that file. Unfortunately even that does not work. I still keep getting the same problem. Could you be kind enough to tell me which utility did you use exatcly. Also what OS you are using. I tried this patch on both 98 and XP pro but with no success.

  15. I used the one under ATI (Radeon) All-In-Wonder Input and it works under WinXP for me, have you rebooted and retried it? I also used the one that patches that file and it did not find it on my system

  16. I tried the patch you mentioned and found that it does patch the system, but it does not solve my problem. After applying the patch I did reboot the machine and then started the TV application of the MMC. However on viewing the composite signal(through which I connected the VHS player) I found the same problem. Section of the VHS tape were too bright, the frames were rolling over etc.

  17. You might need to change your settings are you PAL, or NTSC? let me know if this helps

  18. I am using a PAL source and capturing in PAL. Are you suggesting that I capture in NTSC mode. Ok I will try it and let you know the results.

  19. Try all the different PALS and NTSC

  20. SFAIK, the ATI Macrovision Removal patch, which states that it was designed for NT, works only on NT, 2000, and XP. Since your profile is not filled out and you haven't given this info, don't know if it will work for you.

My experience is that under XP pro, this stops the frame freezing or rollover with VCR and DVD source, but it did NOT stop the brightness from varying significantly. The SIMA copymaster, down to $39.95 now, did stop the brightness pulsing. Since I got it after applying the patch, I don't know if the SIMA stops the rollover and frame freezing, though it's supposed to.

  21. ok folks I will try all the NTSC/PAL settings. I have an ATI AIW 128 with 32MB RAM. MY Pc is a P4 with 256MB RAM running on WIN XP Pro.

After applying the patch (it did find the file and checked if it was patched and found that it was). Unfortunately the jump and drop in brightness has not been resolved.

As said earlier I would love to get my hands on the SIMA copymaster, but unfortunately they do not supply in India.

  22. Folks,
In an effort to solve my problem I did some testing with the Pinnacle PCTV plus card and guess what "No more macrovision problems". Yes folks thats right apparently PCTV plus does not recognise macrovision.

    But I got related problems:
    1. Too many dropped frames.
    2. Does not support video size greater than 352X288.

Anybody know any solution around these

  23. Folks,
I tried capturing in NTSC but since the source itself is PAL it does not help. As I was playing around with the PCTV PLUS I found a peculiar problem. At some points in time the picture starts looping. This happens only if I try to capture. If I am just viewing it there is no problem. Any ideas what this is
