  1. I have downloaded quite a few movies from kazaa but when i come to play them they don't work, i have tryed using Media player, divx player with the xvid add on and also power dvd. The file says its a .avi but won't play, they seem to be about 700 - 800mb and some of them do work but the other give me a error message saying

Divx "The file that you are attempting to open does not appear to be a divx file type"

WMP "Cannot play back the file. The format is not supported"

Power dvd, this just does nothing.

Please help because i'm wasting loads of time download films that don't seem to work.

    Thanks

    Try this also:

    http://www.geocities.com/cplarosa/movieid/

Unzip it to a folder then drag and drop the movie file to movieidw.exe.
It will then pop up a "NotePad" window with all of the specs of the file.
If it really is a movie type of file (avi, mpeg, asf etc...) it will tell you.
After that you can then start searching for answers as to why it doesn't play.

    GoodLuck!

There seem to be plenty of fake movies on Kazaa and other P2P networks at the moment. Search the forums on how to test the validity of a movie whilst it is downloading so that you can cancel the fakes before wasting hours waiting for them to fill up your HD.
