Load the divx avi to TMPGEnc and process Audio only. The output will be in mp2 format (you may want to use toolame as external encoder). It also creates a temporary wav file, you may be able to harvest that if your objective is wav (I have never tried that, though).

virtual dub does not support divx. it even says it may crach your system.
if i knew the programing language, i would get the source and alter this. also include mpeg 1 encoding. -
Well I have been doin it for months now with out a problem, then the power went out while it was running. Now It crashes on start up. So its not the divx that is crashing it, cause I can't get far enough to load anything. Unless over time it slowly screwed things up.
But, I've also tryed uninstalling the whole prog, even reg refrences, everything, still no luck.
Thanks anyway

You could always take the big dip and reinstall Windows...
Before such a drastic step, have you tried installing a newer version of VirtualDub first?
Greg12, VirtualDub works very well with DivX. It only does not officially "support" DivX in a legalistic and possibly moral sense.

Looks like im gonna have too format soon anyway. and I cant use Tmpg to procces the audio, cause it doesnt work, thats why I rip it with VD. There's gotta be another proggy put the that can do this.
