If anyone has sucessfully made an xvcd with TMPencoder and plays on an apex 600a. Please let me know your settings. I have gone over and over Sefi's template and method to perfect but my apex DVD plays out of sync. Beutiful picture and superb sound just not together. Picture follows sound in trailing sequence. I have tryed all types of multiplexors and demux'ers no luck...same type of play. This was a DVD backup done with DVD2MPG sqeezer1.6. The mpa and mpv multiplexed in xing mpegencoder plays fine, but is to big for CDR, so I try overburn . I have Nero 5.5 and 90min overburn CDRs. I set nero to overburn...the space is around 710mbs enough to fit on a 90 min 870mb CDR, but when Nero goes to burn it it bumps it up to 888mb for some reason. I have a registered copy I bought from store, it is 5.5.2.9 CD version. Does any one know why Nero does that.

Lots of questions here. I'll tackle the synch issue (based on my Apex 500W and others).
If it is in synch on the PC (always try the source mpeg first before you burn), but it is NOT in synch on the standalone, you may want to demultiplex the movie with TMPGENC, then re-multiplex with bbMPEG.
I'm actually suprised that this isn't on the "tutorials" pagesit's almost 100% vital to do this on some players. On an Apex, it may or may not work skipping the BBMPEG re-multiplex, but it's better to do it.
Just select the video/audio sources, then under type, select your type (VCD OR SVCD) I can tell you fot a VBR VCD, select every check except "Add SVCD offsets". I always use the MAX allowable
(32767 or something) most people use "0" to do an auto, this fails when I do it...
If you do this, you should definitely notice a synch difference on your standalone... hope this helps...

First let me say I'm not sure what your problem is. But I've used both TMPGenc and CCE to make x(S)VCDs and play them in my Apex AD600A no problem. I have a friend with the same player and we send copies of stuff to each other, no problems...
Second, do NOT try to use nero to burn the MPEG file. Instead make an image on the MPEG and have nero burn that. I would also add that I think DVD2SVCD or DVDx are better 'one step' programs then DVD2MPG Sqeezer, lots of people 'seem' to sync problems with it.
The only problem I've ever had with DVD2SVCD was a small subtitle problem, and I've (more less) found a work around for that.
