Heres the deal, i bought a sony vaio rx860 computer. It comes with a dvd writter, when i took the top off the computer and looked at the back of the dvd-r it said A05 on the back, but on the computer everything says that it's a 04. When i checked the firm ware on it, it say sony 4.0 firmware. I was thinking since it's actually a 105 it should burn at 4x but it will only burn at 2x max? Would anyone have any thoughts on how to get this thing to go 4x Or is the sony firmware only allowing 2x max. I'm afraid to download the new hacks cause i dont want to mess up the computer or writter...then again i would't know if i should download the 04 or 05 hacks(to burn 1x disc at 2x speed)
The reason sony put 05 in there was becouse of the 04 being damaged when 4x disc were being out in there. Pioneer gave sony the new 05 to put in there computers they were making so sony would not have a shortage(at least thats what one of the sony reps said)
