Ok, I am using XP professional, n i cant burn ANYTHING. There is some stupid default windows software that has to be used and i can figure how to make itnot the default anymore. Cause when i try to burn my VCD with nero, it goes through the process and all and says cd completed succesfully, but when i take the cd out and put it back in it shows it as blank still. And yes i did click the close CD box so thats not the problem. So, if anyones knows how to un-default thatstupid windows burning software, can u let me know. Or if thats not the problem, TELL ME WAHT IS!!ty

I don't think you are having a Windows XP issue. Make sure that your setting for recorder in Nero is set to you burner and not to the Image drive.

when you click the icon to burn the disk, there will be a new window
that pops up. Under one of those tabes you will see check boxes. Uncheck the one that says "simulate." -
if it is a windows setting, it's this one........
go to "run" and type "services.msc" when you get the next screen, scroll down until you find "IMAPI CD" and disable it, making it manual isn't good enough. Windows will now give you a prompt that says you will be unable to record CD's......ignore it, that only applies to the internal Adaptec stuff which is junk anyway. As an extra side benifit to this, Nero will load MUCH faster and there ios not so much overhead on your system. -
If you can't find a software issue it could be a bad laser in your CD-R drive.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'
