  1. Hi, I have a DivX of the the life of brian the audio qual is very good,

How when I run it though TMPGEnc, the audio quality of the MPG1 file drops to very bad, there is a lot of high frequency clipping,.

I have set TMPGEnc to use toolame to see if this fixed the problem, and this made no difference, the MPG1 file is the same.

    Has anyone any idea`s?

I did read some thing about the fact that TMPGEnc is not very good if the sample rate of the audio is not 44.1Kh is this what is happening here? if so should I extract the WAV (Virtual Dub) and change the sample rate before encoding to MPG1

    Cheers

    Paul

  2. yes, personally I use a plugin, ie "scmp" to resample the frequency.

u r right anything that isn't 44.1khz does sound harsh/tinny/metallic. This I believe is due to the fact that tmpgenc lacks a frequency resampler
