  1. Ok i have tried many times to encode with the famed CCE 2.5. unfortunately, it never worked for me: here what i did:

    System Pentium II 350, Software CCE2.5 demo;

1 tried to add the DV files (both type 1 and type 2) from the main window, it shows up and I can double click on it to configure, but after I click on the ENCODE button, a window shoing an error message pops up:

"cctsp.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. An error log is being crated". I got no where to find the log.

2 tried the method published on this board under conversion using CCE and virtualdub. the same error occured again. And can't remember sometimes a message showes CCE can't recognize the .VDR file, showing a message like this

"AVIFileOpen("c:\my documents\dvd\q.vdr"):According to the registry, the type of file specified in AVIFileopen does not have a handler to process it"

3 tried kevin ghenry's method, it couldn't open the AVI file converted by WFAPI. it shows a similar message as above.

I have installed the Avifilehandler and turned on the proxy.

Can someone give some ihint on this??

    Thanks

When you used Virtual Dub to Frameserve to CCE, did you add the wav file of the source you trying to convert.

If not try that, CCE will always crash if you do not.

Also what Operating System you using????

If your using WINXP, You'll have to run CCE in Compatabilty Mode, just right click on the main CCE.exe, goto Compatabilty Mode and select the Windows 95 option.

And last but not least, i hate to say this but your PC Specs are not all that good for encoding, in fact it's gonna take you a very long long long long long time to encode as well as having a Nasty Blue CCE Logo in the bottom right of your encode, because your using th Demo version.

  3. thanks for the prompt reply. And sorry for not mentioning the OS. It win2k pro.

Ok i have tried yur way: I tried to load the wav file. An error message pops up "Avifilegetstream: bad parameters"

if i add avi file first then the vdr file, it says "avifileopen("c;\documents and setting\ddr\desktop\p.vdr"): unknown error.

I know my spec is bad and to nasty logo i will have to see. I am still in a process to get things work for me. the time before i can actually produce anything is gonna be long. I don't deal with large movies.

thanks you very much though. I have been able to use TMPGenc. Just want to give the CCE a try.

Forgot to mention make sure you load the Handler in the VDub Directory as well "if you haven't done so already", it can be found in the Aux.setup.

You might also have to load the proxyon.reg into your registry as well which can be found in the Proxy Folder, just remember to uninstall the handler and the proxyon.reg when you've finished, using the Auxsetup.exe and the uninstall proxyon.

One last thing, what version of Virtual Dub are using???.

If your using the latest which is 1.4.10, it can't handle Framserving all that well so download a previous version form the Vdub Homepage like 1.4.9.

  7. thanks dilbert:

That was something i have been vaguely suspecting. I'll have to use the other system which is networked. I have to call the administrator to come to install everything. I hate that!!! thank you guys. I'll keep you guys updated on this if i do have a chance to run on the Pentium IV system.

My wife would never let me upgrade my homes system which is even worse, a pentiumII 233mhz. You guys should be very satisfied or happy with what you possess (a fast system and an understanding wife?)

  8. Jesus Tiger put the hard word down on the woman! What gives her the right to dictate what you can & cant do? Next time she does something, put your foot down on HER and see how she likes it...

I think the P2 is the problem. .avs files never worked for me either.

My method is for .avi to mpg, i dont know about dv cos I've never used it ... PM me with more specifics if you want

  9. I suppose the easiest solution would be to not get married or have kids at all so you never have to share the toys... works well for me

I used DVD MovieFactory for a while, but DVD Workshop is also easy to use and is MUCH more powerful/more expensive.

  11. thank you guys,

I think i am going to stay with TMPGenc for the moment until my wife changes her mind.

I have just made my first SVCD with vcdimager. LONG LONG LONG learning curve. but powerful.

The CD contains 2 level menu, a slide show with music and movie show. Great!! still enjoying that.

If you cannot go via Virtualdub, then it is always worth trying TMPG to produce a project file, and then convert to a pseudo-avi with VFAPV Converter to load into CCE.

  14. I havent had any luck using VDub as a frameserver.

Just another was my method. Works good for me, but I will admit that CCE is a twitchy mofo sometimes.
