  1. I have a 2.6gb mpg file i converted to svcd with tmpeng is there a way I can put this onto 2 80min cds without re-encoding ?

  4. Well the problem isn't that he used SVCD but that he used to high a bitrate if you wanted to put the movie on 2x 80min CDRs.

    Take a look under tools | bitrate calculators and enter the movie length, audio quaility, # of CDRs, etc. and it'll give you the proper bitrate to encode with. You have to encode with CBR or multipass VBR for the calculators to work thou.

    The problem was that he didn't want to re-encode. Also a standard SVCD with 2.6GB would be over 120mins long in time.
    If he would want to re-encode he would have to have an avg. bitrate of 1600kb/s to fit 120mins on to 2 80min CD-R's. At that low bitrate you might as well choose the VCD specs.
