Check under the old posts for upgrade to 1.32 There is a site with a file that will make the drive a genuine Pioneer 1.20 version. I.E. it rewrites the BIOS to a Pioneer 1.20 version. I used it to change mine so i could upgrade to 1.32

  4. Just so people don't get the wrong impression, I upgraded to 1.33 & mine works fine (20+ burns)

  5. ok i have changed my mind slightly - its a good thing and a bad thing what pioneer have done, they have introduced a new writing methord. So if you use good media you will not be affected.

if you want to know more check these 2 links out..

I can put my finger on it right now, but their is a RPC-1 2x unlocked firmware floating around out there. If I had not already upgraded to 1.33 I might have tried it myself.

I've done a half dozen burns without a problem so far.

  13. hey i had similiar problems with my ao4/104 when i upgraded my firmware to 1.32, this upgrade removed two media brands from use ritek and cmd. the 1.33 readded these manufacturers back, firmware 1.31 allowed 2x burning on these medias, 1.32 no support, and 1.33 brought support back though i do not believe it has 2x burning for ritek. Riteck also makes Primedisc 4.7 and primedisc 9.4 double sided. check out the firmware forum for all your pioneer firmware need. there is a downgrade and a great 2x4all that allows 2x for all media types. the only way i was able to get mine up burning again was with the beta recordnow max 4.5, iam still waiting on the official release, no clue now when they will bring it out.

  14. I've experienced the bug!!! bulkpaq dvdrs will no longer burn properly since the update to version 1.33 but who cares coz they were crap anyway!!!! ice (whitetops) are good & they burn every time There is no way U can downgrade(hacked firmware only) been intouch with pioneer & they say they will fix the version for next release so bulkwank & whitelabels should burn properly.... (princo media)

  15. There is a hardware mod that can be done to reset your firmware wiring in a power switch to the reset on the chip not for newbie soldier monkeys, not to fun, yes the firmware down grades are previous code placed in new firmware updates ie pioneer's 1.31 code placed in 1.33 or 1.34 the date and version string allow it to upgrade and install previos .dat works fine, so does the hardware reset go to firmware forum for step by step, I wouldnt believe pioneer on there "fixes" in later firmware. They wouldnt come clean the first go around when they dumped these medias the first time as well as using a 4x media scare to cause panic to update when the problem was already accounted for in an early update.
