I am so happy today! The camera I bought on ebay is due to arrive today according to UPS tracking page. I also ordered some tapes for it, and I can get started on my stop motion film.

Anyway, I was wondering, before I start anything and waste time, what is the resolution of 8mm tapes? I know VHS has 240 lines, Super VHS has 400 lines, and DVD has 480 lines... DV has 500 lines, I think, and what does 8MM use? I am asking this because I want to keep the quality as high as possible throughout production. I am using analog capturing and all that good stuff, and premiere to edit and print. But before I capture something in the wrong res, what resolution does 8MM use? Thanks for any replies I get.

Shite! I thought 8MM was higher quality than VHS... Feh. So I guess I can capture shit in VCD 2.0 format, then. I was going to make it all nice-looking and hi res.
