SVCD produces quality so close to DVD, that it's difficult to pick any. Queen of the Damned was good. Panic Room. Death To Smoochy, Star Wars Episode 2, etc. I have to wonder why anyone would ever use VCD. It looks pitful in comparison.

  4. For those of us who don't have standalone players that accept SVCD, we make the best of VCD. I'd have to say I've done excellent XVCD's. My best was Kiss of the Dragon. I use max 2500kbps avg 2350 min 0.

  6. The biggest problem is getting an AVI of decent quality - the video library here has CRAP in the way of DVD selections ... so I have to download movies.

CCE produces great SVCDs, and using the header trick my DVD-SA plays them fine.

Ice Age is a CG movie about some prehistoric animals on a 'road trip' ... it's quite amusing. Saw it on the plane and kept guffawing loudly, much to the annoyance of the Japanese passengers who continually lined up for the toilet 3 aisles back - those people, as soon as the plane takes off there's a queue for the dunny, and it doesnt stop for the 12 hours back to NZ!

    Erm, off topic there sorry.

Romeo must die - couldnt tell the diff between the DVD and the SVCD. That was CCE too.

    mol3000,
The new Panasonic encoder is available as of today. The initial reports on it don't look to promising. There is more posted on this in the news section.

Trust me mol. Once you go CCE, you'll never go back. I would suggest you keep working on it. What kind of problem are you having with it?
