Why should I buy TMPEGenc

I accidentally posted this in the "advanced" forum when it should have been posted in "newbies". Can someone answer this question for me?:

My trial period just expired on TMPEGenc. Why should I buy it? I know that it no longer has MPEG2 support after the first 30 days but MPEG1 still works fine. What is the advantage of MPEG2? Do I need MPEG2 to make SVCDs...or even better quality VCDs?

Once again, I apologize for my ignorance but could someone tell me the advantage of the retail version and MPEG2? Thank you for your help?

VCD is allways MPEG1, SVCD and DVD are allways MPEG2. So simple it is.

Yeah, and scope out the pricetag on CCE. Then you'll know why to buy TMPG....

SVCD is far better than VCD so if your standalone plays SVCD's then i'd start converting to that. As far as getting the full version of tmpgenc im sure you could locate it on the web as some people feel the need to share software illegally.

Also, besides the GREAT $$$$-tag TMPG is a great all-around and useful tool. Multiplex, de-multiplex, cut, join and handle various types of DV. Its quality is outstanding compared to others 10-20x more expensive. For the price you pay you get a truly GREAT product!!!

Pay the $45 bucks for it! It's a great encodered for the price. If everyone only used the freeware version of it or found a way to get the plus verison without paying for it then we would eventually lose TMPGEnc. This would only leave us with other packages that cost a lot more or wouldn't give us the functionality and quailty that we get from TMPGEnc.
