  1. Here is the deal.....I have a Hi8 camcorder that i want to be able to capture video from in the highest quality possible for around $200.00, what is the best solution? I currently have Dazzle DVC 80, but that doesnt seem to be cutting it for me. Should it be??? Capturing the video with movie star 5.2 just doesnt produce good looking video! I tried to get VirtualDub to work with it, but i can't get sound no matter what i try. The closest thing to sound that i can get is static.

Last but not least....Am i out of my mind thinking that i should be able to get SVCD's that look comparable to the actually Hi8 tape footage???

    Any thoughts would be great....

i think you can use almost any program for capturing, cos bad video or sound has nothing to do with the software, but with the settings.
i use uivcr for capturing to avi and tmpegenc for converting to mpeg.
many settings available. and documentation everywhere.

  3. Hi,

I'm using an old dc10+ with very good results. There is many posts on the card and the tricks. I converted about 60 2h 8mm tapes with it. Now, I mostly use it to keep a few tv show or movies. It worked for me.
