i have ripped a few standard SVCDs in TMPGEnc. Most of them are letterboxed but where the black borders meet the actually video there is a noticable amount of blurring. Also around any logos the TV channel put in the corner. I don't get them in the captured AVI just when I encode them. So It must be something in TMPGEnc. I dont have this problem with VCD and I have other people's SVCDs and they dont have this problem.
