Does anyone know is there any notebook computer accessories I have to purchase such as audio connections cables to connect the regular audio tape recorder, VHS Video Cassette Recorder, DVD player to the notebook computer for audio recording purposes?

    Any suggestions?

  3. For recording Audio tapes it is pretty easy. You will need a tape player for audio out jacks and a program that will record .wav files in stereo like windows sound recorder. With a patch cord ( your sound card should have come with one ) connect the tape play 'out' to your 'line in' on your sound card. Check the windows sound mixer setting so that you 'line in' volume is at about 1/2 or 5/8 up and then switch to recording under properties in the mixer and select 'lin in' as your recording source. Check that the gain is at about 3/4 or so. Press play on the tape player and start recording. Start a new file for each new song.

Use software like Ahead Nero to burn your wav files to CD-R in CDA format ( plays in any cd player ) or a program like freemp3rip ( I think that is what it is called search on tucows.com for mp3 converters ). Convert your wav files to mp3 and they will be very small and still sound great! You can them fits a few hundred mp3's onto a single disk and it will play in most newer cd players - check the specs....

Hope the ramblings help... as for the rest of your questions, I am just learning now so I would suggest spending a few hours reading in these forums. I have used several of the guides with success! Some great information here!

    Later,
    Mark...

  4. Welcome any suggestions.

I don't know which input jacks on my notebook computer are use for recording to the notebook computer.

Is the microphone input jack on a notebook computer used for audio cable connection recording from VCR or DVD player to notebook computer?

Is the headset input jack on a notebook computer used for audio cable connection recording from VCR or DVD player to notebook computer?

Do you have "Line in" that is the normal socket used.

List all your sockets, they are normally the 3.5mm ones
