  1. I bought a apex 1100w dvd player last thursday from walmart. I got home with it expecting to be able to play vds's on it. Well i burned a south park episode with nero put it in the player and it came on i was happy at first but it started getting blocky. it would play fine then get blocky again. The sound also skiped every 50 sec or so. Now ive been reading about this player and i hear that the newer models (yellow kodak sighn) dosnt support vcd's/. would this be the cause of the sputering and such. I burned the sample svcd on this site and it would bring up a empty folder when i put it in the dvd player. So far i have ruined like 5 dics. Btw the discs i use are pny. So they wernt the wally worl cheapos. What should i do. Shoul i return it and look for a dvd player with the white kodak picture or am i just burning the vds's wrong.

  2. I have the same APEX and have not had the problems you describe. A couple of questions:

Can you play the VCD on your PC?
What software are you using to create a compliant VCD Mpeg?
What software are you using to burn your VCD?

  3. A simple thing yall. Old 1100w's play vcd's, new ones don't. The way to tell which ya got is by looking at the box. Yellow Kodak logo is new, white kodak logo is old.

  5. Go to yer walmart, it may take more than one, and look for one with that white kodak logo. Though grankly, you can get a mintek 1600 from best buy, at least for now, they'll probably be disconintued soon, for the same price as the apex 1100w -- and to be it is superior in basically every way, well sept for reading LFNs in iso level 1, thats the only thing I've seen worse so far.
