  1. OK first I think all "illegall" stuff trying to be prevented is stupid. If the RIAA and MPAA dont like piracy we can put all their candy-asses on a plane to southeast asia to fight sone "crime". The RIAA should force every ASCAP artist and their respective record companies to release a cd-single for every single released to radio on the artists album. i cant stand getting on ebay and paying 12.99 (+ shipping and handling) for a cd from germany with 4 different versions of the same song and a Quicktime music video. The 2nd reason people download music is the because they dont wanna pay $17.99 for a CD when they only like the 3 songs with music videos (another reason being we're all lazy cheapskates). The MPAA should stop having test screenings for all those crappy B-movie buddy-cop flicks and "horror films" with a bunch of sex-crazed teenagers (see any movie with blood, knives and teenagers released since 1997) which are gonna suck no matter what they put in the final cut. Therefore I say we put entertainment back in the hands of the people. Not some corporation trying to turn the citizens of this great country into prisoners of stupid copyright laws.

Although I agree with most of what you said, half of it is the fault of the consumer.

A majority of the public gobbles up the shit that Hollywood and Musicwood (I made that one up for lack of a better word) spew out. Since more people are willing to pay for gargbage than not, the few intelligent individuals have a softer voice.

Anyway, neither organization is ever going to defeat piracy. Whether it be by means of legislation or "secure" software/hardware. Like you mentioned, they need to start coming up with innovative solutions to maximize their profits, despite the effects of piracy. Of course greed blinds...

    Just my two cents.

What gets me is theur mentailty which suggests that all these people that are downloading would run out and buy their crappy CD's if they couldn't download. I'm far more likely to buy the actual CD if I can download some stuff fisrt and actually like it.
