Has anyone else had a similar problem? I ripped Monsters Inc (standard) using DVD Decrypter, but it did not create any of the VIDEO_TS files. Just the VOB files, and .IFO file assocuated with the VOB files.
I can play the VOB files on my PC Using PowerDVD, but when I try to add the VOB files to Nero I get "No Compatible File Found".
Can anyone advise what I am doing wrong?
I am fairly new at this but not a Newbi as such.

I use the most common format which is...
RIP (using smartripper-dvd decrypter, etc)
DVD2AVI
Then finally TMPGenc...
I did Monster's Inc yesterday as a matter of fact..
You need to convert the VOB to an AVI using DVD2AVI
(file will be .D2V for TMPGenc)
Then convert the AVI (.D2V) to mpeg using TMPEGenc.
Finally, burn... -
Thanks for responding!
I did try to process the VOB with DVD2AVI but I ended up with a 900MB .wav file and a tiny DV2 file (384k) - is this supposed to happen? I cannot find any MPEG file as output.
Any advice?

Here is how i did it.
1. Ripped the vobs.
2. deleted any ifos that the ripper created.
3. Used ifoedit to create a new set of ifos files (make sure you "get VTS sectors" for you new ifos.
4. Burned with nero.
the dvd will auto play the movie when inserted

I heard some reports that the movie on region 2 discs is bigger than on region 1. I ripped and stripped just the 16:9 movie of the region 1 disc and it came out to 3.59GB. People with region 2 disc's are saying they can't do the same thing and they have to re-encode.

mustiso, did you rip the movie with dts as well as dolby digital 5.1? i ripped the full screen version of the film(region2) with both audio formats and it came out at about 4.23 gb

When I ripped the disk the total of the VOB files was 4.75, so just a tiny bit over what my DVD+R disk will handle.
So - in theroy, when you have a streightforward rip of VOB files, you should be able to put these back onto a disc (in my case, a DVD+R) and it will play in a consumer DVD player? Assuming the files will fit that is...
