  1. I have a PCTV Rave card and I have got hold of Power VCR Pro. I havent started converting yet but have played around with the settings and I seem to be getting the hang of it. I have also looked at the tutorial which uses virtual dub and huffyuv, but some of the posts in this forum have made me think twice about following that one.

Is Power VCR Pro a good package in relation to other software ?
Is the 4GB limit on filesize due to the operating system, filetype or the application?

What would be the ideal, best quality, no hassle solution for the PCTV rave?

Hmm, not sure what you read, but I use virtual dub all the time. I use huffyuv too. No problems there. It doesn't compress as much as Picvideo but it's free.

I know Windows 98 has a limit like that but I don't know about Me. Never used powerVCR.

  3. The posts I am referring to say there are problems with 4Gb+ files if you dont use W2000 or XP.
Some othjer posts tell of encoding just stopping or bad output.

The card is made by Pinnacle and is PCI (do they make ISA or AGP tuner cards?).

Im using WinME as my OS, so will I have the 4Gb file problem, or is the problem related to the softeware being used?

  4. The problem with 4G is a limitation of operating systems (specifically FAT32 I think). But with virtualdub there is a way to span the file into more than one 4G hunk. I don't know how to do it since I use win2k. It's probably in a newbie guide somewhere. As far as ISA tuner cards, I doubt you see many of those. The ATI All in Wonder cards are AGP as far as I know. Your pinnacle PCI card is probably up to the task you mention.
