4GB limit problem w AVI, any way to split up automatically ?

Hi,
I am trying to capture edit svcd from Hi8 source.
What's the resolution of Hi8 NTSC ? So that I capture at that resolution and not higher since my card can do 720x480.

Since I am using V7 of Pinnacle studio for editing I need to feed it AVI File. My capture card gives me either MPEG1 or MPEG2 files.
So I used MPEG1 and run it through TMPGenc no problem.
Well that was good for a short 1 minute test
If I capture large 5 minute file the MPEG2 is only 50 MB.
However the AVI File goes to 4GB and then error.
I used uncompresed 24 bit ? What compression should I use so I don't loose quality ?

Even then I am sure to run into 4GB limit since I was planning on capturing 2 hr vid. and then editing it down.

In one of my experiment I remember TMPGenc splitting up the file automatically. I just don't remember how to do it.
Because with split files I can load them in Studio V7 and edit around.
