I have a 2 hour, 29 gigabyte .dv file that plays in Quicktime.

I have a list of about 35 different cuts I want to make. Is there a way I can automate this in either Quicktime Pro, or iMovie? Or do I need Final Cut?

For example, is there somewhere I can punch in all the appropriate cut times:

    2:05 - 3:09
    15:32-25:01
    1:05:09-1:10:11

And so on, and have 35 different quicktime files exported automatically? I want to have it automated instead of having to go through and manually cut each clip from the 2 hour long file, and export individually.

For future reference there's a Mac forum for all questions Mac, they have their own little world. :P PM a mod to move your post.

Not sure how it works in the MAC world but I'd imgine it's the same. If by any chance those cuts are portions of the tape where you have paused or stopped recording and the timecode is intact you don't even need to mark the cuts. Each scene can be captured as a different file or exported as individual files, really don't know how any of that software works so I couldn't tell you. But if that's the case its a huge timesaver.

it's not easy to do what you ask.
SimpleMovieX comes close to what you are trying to achieve.

I just set chapter markers in FCP, export the file to QT Movie,
and then use DVDSP to mask the chapters in a Play all script,
    leaving my desired "cut".

You could look into First Cut software, which might be what you need.
    search version tracker for it.
