  1. I have MPEGed an AVI movie with TMPGenc , no problems.
I have transferred the Mpeg file onto a CD with Roxio Platinum, no problem,
When I put it in my JVC 7 discs DVD I just get a menu with the files (MP3) press play, nothing happens.....Am I doing something wrong (probably)?
    Can someone help,lease
Ps: If I put the CD on my computer, it plays fine

What exactly do you mean when you say:
I have transferred the Mpeg file onto a CD with Roxio Platinum
If you literally just copied the mpeg to a CD-R, then it won't play in a stand alone player. There is a standard file structure that must be followed. I don't use Roxio (others have had problems), but if it has a 'create VCD' option, then use that. I use Nero and it does have an option to make a standard compliant VCD.

  4. Yes my DVD plays all kind of formats including VCD, it says so on the front panel.
Roxio platinum has the VCD option, " create a video cd using your MPEG files" which I used and it does have a structure

Have you tried playing the VCD in a software player like Power DVD on your PC? Alternatively, have you tried making a test VCD using one of the sample files available on this site? These tests may help to narrow down the source of the problem.
