  2. does it not let you save captured files? if so, search for a post i made a couple weeks ago on mmc 7.7.0.1

there's an issue with NTFS security permissions:
-on the target drive, there's a folder called "ATI MMC". give it full read/write/take control permissions to everyone. go in it and do the same for any subfolders

-go into ATI MMC setup, and uncheck "always capture to temp drive", but make the temp drive the one where you want the file to go eventually

No I cant even get into the TV program..causes an error everytime..Im gonna uninstall and reinstall..Any suggestions.. like is there an order these drivers should be installed? I got the w2k-radeon, then the control panel and then the MMC?

  4. make sure you get BOTH capure AND video drivers AND MMC (and the control panel thing if you want).

    install DirectX 8.1b
    reboot
install drivers (both, either order, actually)
    reboot
    install MMC
    reboot
Check NTFS security permissions and MMC settings

Okay, I have had about enough of this s***. I unistalled the MMC capture drivers. Installed the directx 8.1b, and then the extra video capture crap that microsoft says is needed for ATI with software version 7... And still the TV player failed to intialize the video...Check to see if the correct video driver is installed(After installing the MMC again). The video driver reports no problems in device manager!@!
    This is frickin' ridiculous..

  6. I don't know if this help but here's what I did...

    1. Un-install all the drivers from ati.
    2. Install Windows Standard VGA Video driver for temporary, I think it installed PCI VGA Driver even though I had AGP RADEON
    3. Reboot
    4. Install DirectX 8.1b
    5. Reboot
    6. Install DirectX support for capture drivers
    7. Reboot
    8. Install ATI Video DRivers from CD but don't reboot after it finish yet. If it ask to reboot , say no.
    9. After it finish installing ATI video drivers from cd, immediately install MMC 7.7 or whatever version right after.
    10. NOw reboot and install any other programs or utility like TV guide plus or control panel.

Everything work for me after than.

If still problem, did you goto setup in TV mode? Like load up TV tuner by right-clicking on ATI taskbar icon and goto TV. Then CTRL+S to goto setup and choose the correct setting. Make sure you click on Initialization wizard and go through the steps it ask. Make sure you choose the right connector in the Video Tab... and in TV Tuner tab, make sure you select cable or antenna... other than that, I guess you would have to download an older version if none of these work for you...

  8. right, these (?) devices are what you need to install the CAPTURE drivers for (from ATI, right where you downloaded the video drivers)

  9. Your going to need these two files. See here http://www.pcphotovideo.com/favorite.htm about halfway down the page. I had the same problem you have untill I put these in they work for win98 also. you cam also find MMC 6.3 there if you need it.

    From pcphotovideo:
wmasf.dll and wmvcore.dll may help you if you have a problem getting your ATI MMC 7.5 TV application running. I had no TV at all in Win2K with MMC 7.5 Do a search of your C: drive for those two files. If they are missing, it could be the problem. They should be in the \system32 Windows folder. Download them and reboot. Then reinstall the MMC components again. Worked for me. You can find the latest versions of these .. http://www.uforesources.com/dlldownload.html

    Hope this helps Robert

    logannsan,
The Guide+ software is only available on the installation CD that came with your card. If you missplaced it you can order a new one thru ATI for about $10. Try this link: http://mirror.ati.com/support/faq/installationcd.html
    Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack

I would love to use the Guide Plus, but most of the programing that I would like to record are shows that are available only with the help of my digital cable box. Does anyone know how to use a IR transmitter with Guide Plus to change the change on a cable box? I have found other programs like snapstream. Any help would be appreciated.
