    Gang,

I bought the 5800 a couple of months ago on ebay with macrovision removed and region-free. It plays my home made VCD and SVCD. It will NOT play my home made DVD, encoded by TMPG or LSX, authored in myDVD or SpruceUp and burned on Pioneer A04/104. The DVD plays fine in my Daewoo 5700.

Anyone can point me in th right direction? Help or I am going to toss it out the back door

    More info would be helpful...

Are you using DVD-R or -RW? I know my Daewoo 3000N doesn't like -RW discs, perhaps the 5800 has the same problem.

What brand of media are you using and what burn speed? I have better success at 1x speed with KHypermedia, even though 2x is supported.

I have Daewoo 5800 and you need to flash the firmware with the firmware for the Daewoo 5700. The 5800 does not play DVD-R,but the 5700 does.
    Look at http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk/
This site has the new firmware and instructions to do the flashing.
