  1. Hey:

I was just wondering how you like the dvd mpeg2 output from Premiere 6.5 as compared with Tmpgenc? I have Premiere 6.01 and am thinking about upgrading it, but the mpeg2 export would be the only reason for me to upgrade. And if it is not as good quality as frameserving to tmpgenc, I'm not going to upgrade.

If you've got time to give me your opinion, I'd appreciate it.

    Thanks,

    -Darrin

hmm - tmpgenc has the slight edge so far i must say .. but i have had some really excellent results from the main concept encoder (what is in the adobe) .. if fact some really good results .. and its much quicker than tmpgenc .. but it has a few small problems ... 1 it doesnt want to retain its settings or properly read its own ini files or project files .. 2. slight motion blur on edges - some settings can reduce .. but takes some playing around .

if you need speed and can do with the default main enocder templates -- go for adobe 6.5 .. if quality above all else and you dont want to mess around with settings each time you use it .. tmpgenc .

i like , more than the fact of the built in encoder (which was avaible for 6.01 also (ligos and cce) , is the fact you can import mpeg2 files INTO adobe now. i wish speedrazor had this ... even blade does not do it afak .. and i like speedrazor better than adobe - untill now ..

i have just completed a through comparison of CCE vs. Main Concept vs. tmpgenc -- i was uploading the result test files right now to a web server

as well as details (vcd, svcd , dvd comparison) ...

i also found out Blade (in-sync) uses the tmpgenc encoder also ..

so adobe and vegas video 3 use main concept (i think ulead does also)

    and in-sync uses tmpgenc ..
