-Some comments to Shochan's tmpgenc article. I had a recent practice of backing up a Frecnch movie 'Venus beauty institute'. DVD2AVI shows it's a NTSC 'vedio' not film. When I used 'forced film' and then encoded with tmpgenc as 23.976 and 3/2 pulldown, and with progressive source, the SVCD image looks like comb. Then I remap the vob without using 'forced film', reencoded with 29.976 with INVERSE 3/2 PULLDOWN and with interlace source. The resulting mpg is good as usual. tmpgenc popup explains that inverse pulldown gives better image than interlace. I guess it's an alternative to make progressive video from interlace source (provided you have an progressive DVD player or TV). This should also work for any NTSC video. Try it out.
