  1. I am using Ulead DVD MovieFactory (or trying to) to burn an MPEG file that was captured from a home movie of a theatre performance. I used Dazzle Hollywood Bridge to capture, TMPGEnc to encode to MPEG2 for DVD burning. I have Ulead DVD MovieFactory patches so I can burn to DVD+R. My burner is a HP DVDWriter 100j (it uses DVD+R media only). My OS is Windows XP. I also have the patch for that.

I have tried to burn this file on several tries. I usually get the burn started, but then it stops and says: "Unable to write to DVD - DVD+RW - SPTI - 2A 02-04-91-C2"

I am not using DVD+RW! I do not want to have to buy more media - I've spent a lot of money on this format (and regular DVD-R I can't use). What is going on here?!

I made a VCD with this program with aboslutely no problems - I had a menu and background music for the menu page - all the touches. So I know it has something to do with my burner and/or the media and/or the program.

The reason I want to burn to DVD is that the theatre show is 2 hours and 19 minutes long. I want it all together to retain the original experience of my husband's perfomance.

I also tried SpruceUp, and it just hangs up when I try to open the MPEG file. Plus I only have the trial version and have no idea how to upgrade since the company is now kaput.

I am stuck! Thanks in advance.

  2. I hate to be the bearer of bad news... But the hp100 supports only dvd+rw, not dvd+r. Dvd+rw was the one created first, they then decided to make a dvd+r for better compatibility. The Hp200 is the first one to support both. Give it a whirl with a +rw disc.
