I have looked EVERYWHERE and this problem is killing me. I just bought a Sony nc655p. NONE of my VCDs work on it. After 22 seconds (always) they all stop (and go back to the DVD player menu). They don't start at the beginning, either. They just play for 22 seconds.

I have searched the DVD player forum and the nc655p supposedly will play everything -- all kinds of CDs and formats.

Has anyone ever had a problem similar to this? I will post every thing I've tried, my hardware info, and what I am guessing could be wrong.

WHAT I HAVE TRIED:
6 different CD brands R/RWs.
VCDEasy and Nero.
vcd1.1 and 2.0
closing/not closing CD
standard bitrates
menus/no menus
on the DVD player all shuffle, replay, A-B repeat, etc is turned off.

HARDWARE/SOFTWARE:
p4 1.6
512mb RAM
writer: Sony crx185e
dvd player: Sony nc655p
win2k sp3
nero & vcdeasy

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS?
would it be possible that my writer is not compatible with my dvd player?
i've read that the dvd player does not support track pauses (what does this mean?). could this have something to do with it? in nero i did happen to set my pause to 0 seconds...i don't know what this does but it still gave me the 22 second meltdown.

any help would be great. i've already spent about 10-12 hours trying to find out what is wrong.

THANKS!!!!
