  1. Frankly, I just gotta ask because I've been all over the web and I'm in disbelief. I just got around to watching this movie, and I've got to say it was the worst piece of trash I've ever seen. I'm all for suspending some disbelief when it comes to things, but watching this movie drove me insane. No character acted like any rational human being would in a similar situation, and Shymalan's "big surprise ending" which he is supposedly known for was to do what any normal human being would have done under the circumstances. Only about 8 hours too late.

So, I had heard mainly bad things about the movie from critics, but then I go online and I'm just reading positive review after positive review. Please tell me other people thought this movie was garbage. I don't wanna feel like I'm going insane....

For the record, my thoughts on his other movie -

The Sixth Sense was okay although the ending was obvious about ten minutes into the move, Unbreakable absolutely fabulous.

  2. Signs was awesome. The acting in the movie was excellent and so was the plot. The way Shymalan introduced us to the whole alien thing through such things as TV coverage and small glimpse of the aliens only increased the intrigue. Most people who I have talked to and didnt like it were those who were expecting a sci-fi movie about aliens and crop circles whilst the real story was Mel Gibson's character regaining his faith.

You are right though, the ending let the movie down. I thought it was too simplistic, put in there to just finish the movie. When my friend and I saw the movie we spent like the rest of the night discussing how we would have liked the movie to have ended. So whilst it was a bad ending the film as a whole was in my eyes Shymalan's best.

I agree with you on Sixth Sense. The twist was too obvious and Unbreakable, i thought was too slow in the pacing but the twist was way better.

  4. Moron, huh? ...a bit hostile...

Yeah, signs was pretty good... I'd need a message from a dead wife to tell me to pick up a weapon when getting attacked by aliens... Oh yeah, and they can navigate accross the galaxy, but they need crop circles to coordinate their attacks... Oh yeah, and they invaded a planet with the purpose of shooting poison gas from their fingernail into all the little boys... Oh yeah... (it goes on an on)

As for Unbreakable, the only "Super Hero" movie told from the perspective of a real guy in ordinary life. Original idea, well done, and who doesn't love Bruce Willis.

  5. i usually meet stupidity with hostility.. the fact remains, you're a moron.

signs is a movie that gives you more by not putting everything in your face, it makes you wander..

as opposed to that piece "unbreakable"..

you seem like the kind of guy that would brag about having a "rent one get one free" coupon, selecting "last action hero" & "navy seals", and then bragging to your friends about what a deal you got..

keep believing the crap you're feeding yourself, you are what you eat, and it spewing from your mouth..

  6. ** POSSIBLE SPOILERS WITHIN **

Oh yeah, and they can navigate accross the galaxy, but they need crop circles to coordinate their attacks...
How do you know that the aliens didnt know the rest of the galaxy like you probably know your local area and they were just using the crop circles as a road map like you do when you go to a foreign place?

Oh yeah, and they invaded a planet with the purpose of shooting poison gas from their fingernail into all the little boys... Oh yeah...
I am guessing you weren't paying that much attention to the movie because it is shown that they are attacking other parts of the world. Not only that but the alien is seeking revenge on the boy for what Mel Gibson's character did to him when he was locked in the pantry.

I'd need a message from a dead wife to tell me to pick up a weapon when getting attacked by aliens...
The whole point of that was to regain his faith but also it could be percieved that she was in fact not referring to the whole 'hit the alien with the baseball bat' but for the brother to get back on with his baseball career? Apart from that I am sure you wouldnt be stunned and would know exactly what to do if you walked into your lounge room and saw an alien.

  7. MORE SPOILERS

After two weeks of preparing to get attacked by aliens (or however long the buildup was) I would have gotten a weapon yes. So would have you, and every other moron on this planet. Except maybe Jeex, he might have done what Gibson did and put his whole family in danger.

As for it being a little story about a massive alien invasion, I would have had no problems with it had the tv clips or scenes around shown that the world was doing something about it except staring at the lights in the sky...

signs is a movie that gives you more by not putting everything in your face, it makes you wander..
Signs didn't make me wander anywhere, and the only thing it made me wonder was why the hell people kept acting like such total morons. And as for putting everything in your face, that's Shymalan specialty. It's been his problem with every movie he's ever done. And then to keep hammering it in your face he always shows the scenes that "make his point" over and over again.

As for the story being about his restoration of faith, I got no problem with that. But if it's couched in a long, unbelievable story then what's the point.

It could have at least had a better ending if his family was saved by Mel listening to Shymaalalanalalan's character and going to the lake. That way, his wife died, to get him to call that day, which imparts a much better "grand plan" thing to the universe.

As for the revenge thing, maybe... but still doesn't change a lousy movie.

Oh and Jeex, that's why they're called OPINIONS. Even if you are a moron.

  8. it was a spirtual/sci-fi piece of crap. Sorry but the story was lame.

is it a coincidence or a mircale that this actually did well at the box office? ill let you decide that.

is it a coincidence or a miracle that there was some other life form in this universe hell bent on doing bad things to us?

or was the thinking of his son dying bringing back the memories of the passing of the wife? really he could have just said "hit it with the f***ing bat" as much as "swing away", but whatever makes you feel better.
