i cant answer your immediate question on why your missing the last 15 minutes.
i'm sure its not a compression problem becuase if the dvd/movie was to big for the dvd-r you wouldnt be able to burn the image..
what i suggest is that u rip the dvd or main movie to your hard drive using dvd decrypter then open up your video ifo and play it back in ifoedit to see if it plays correctly (make sure to do a get vts sectors on the ifos just in case).
theres plenty of guides on vcdhelp and some really good ones on DERROW's and dooms page search the dvdrip area for links to site.
but i suggest u rip the title set (not an image) to your harddrive so u can check it out then burn it with nero or I prefer usimg Prassi PrimoDVD
