I keep reading that the older TMPG versions (before 2.57) are better because they can encode MPEG-2 files. #1: Is this true? #2: Where can I get one of these older versions?

Hes right. You cant download them, only view the features. I could also try kazaa....

Yeah, you can find some on Kazaa. Or just do a search on Google and you'll get many links to older versions.

Search on Google for Apachez website. You will find TMPGEnc beta 12a there, which I think is the last free version with mpeg-2 support.
