TMPGEnc slider locked in Merge & Cut

Can encode, lode, veiw MPEG2's but when I try to use the edit function in the Merge and Cut section. Clip plays put does not track range and the slider is locked. If I try to type in the range it jumps to the right position and then TMPGEnc crashes. Merges files fine (with the beep between clips) but can't cut them. Have mp2 pluggin for TMPGEnc installed and these are clips encoded with TMPGEnc. Any thoughts ? I'm using TMPGEnc pro v2.57

press play for a second or two then try again, works fine for me.

That was one of the fixes in the how to on this site. Tried it and it didn't work. I can play the clip but it doesn't keep track of the time index and the trim bar does not move at all.

Maybe you CPU not big enough to feed to TMPGEnc at that moment. I'm not sure just a guess.

I used to have this problem (only sometime) with my old system 466 MHz and only with mpeg2 file. Then I reboot and use the trick play a few seconds and it work (BUT I have to close TMPGEnc after finished first cutting and run again to cut second part). Now I use 1.7 GHz pentium and don't have that problem anymore.

ya_jai, Did you pick up any readings in the range counter on your old system? Nomatter how many times I press play and pause or how long, my range counter remains at 00:00:00.

Interesting, just found out that if I run a simple de-mux and then simple mux. the new file will play and give me range settings in merge and cut, all though when I try to cut the file TMPGEnc crashes I have a new problem but I believe I"ve seen other posts on this subject. The original files were encoded in TMPEGnc with VBR. Does anyone have any clues.

same problem here trying to cut mpeg 2 slider sticks and tmpge freezes..

Arhhh! VBR again,

I have enocded all my mpeg2 with CQ setting, so I'm not sure if I can help you guys now. From a lot of posts complain that they're having problem after cut mpeg2 VBR as well like sync issue.

I think you might be better give bbMPEG a try, then.
