  1. Hi,

I'm using tmpg mostly for converting avi/divx movies to SVCD. When I check the avi file information with VirtualDub I note nearly all of them use 23,97 fps. As I live in Europe I would like to encode to PAL.

So in tmpg's Project Wizard (Page 1/5 "Select Format") do I choose "Super Video-CD PAL" or "Super Video-CD NTSC film"?

I would guess I choose PAL but reading the guide on this page it says the choice depends on the fps of the source (so I should choose NTSC film).

    any help would be appreciated

  3. I would suggest you to try to encode in original format of avi first (NTSC in this case). And if your player can play NTSC DISC without a problem then you don't have to convert to PAL or anything. Otherwise you have to read more about how to convert from NTSC to PAL.

One more thing to be concern, this avi, frame rate 23.976 fps is best if you convert to NTSC SVCD with 23.976 fps and 3:2 pulldown, but if you convert to VCD using NTSCfilm template (convert with 23.976fps), many posts here complain about jerking and/or out of sync with 23.976 fps VCD.

You can use search to see how ppl handle this 23.976fps type movie. Or others might have a solution for your specific need. I'm in NTSC country so can't help much.
