I never would have guessed that DVD+RW and DVD-RW are different formats. What's the difference between a + and a -?
If there's a difference for DVD, is there a CD+RW and a CD-RW format difference, too?

if you look to the left, there is a little thing that says "DVDRW" DVD ReWritable? ever think to click it and find your answer? well if not, here it is;
DVD-RW is primarily supported by Pioneer. It is compatible with most existing DVD-ROM drives and DVD-Video players.
----
DVD+RW is scheduled to become available in the summer or fall of 2001.It will be compatible with most existing DVD-ROM drives and DVD-Video players
________
and no, there is no cd+rw for cd burners.. only cd-rw..

This is so typical of people. They'd rather be lazy, and ask someone for the answer, than to take two seconds and look at the nav bar on the left hand side of the screen.
-
You'll find the information you need about the DVD+ format beyond the snot remarks you've gotten so far by going to philips home page.

Its also so typical of people being sarcastic; taking (no, wasting) time posting a rude reply rather than just letting it go.
I think my question was valid. Ultimately I asked if the same + and - standard applied to CD-ROMs as well.
Sorry if I offended the few regular people who must consider themselves forum "police." Must be nice thinking you're better than others.

Ultimately, what you asked were questions that have been asked and answered before. Not only would making use of the left navigation bar would have answered your question, clicking on SEARCH (at the top of every Forum page) would have revealed how many times the topic has come up -- and would clarify the source of the frustration regular readers have with people who "post first and do research on their own later" (if at all). -
jjo,
hey! i am the forum police! respect my authoritah!
------
but seriously, dont you remember asking your teacher how to spell a word and s/he'd tell you to look it up in the dictionary?
quit being so lazy, look around, dig up information on you're own. form YOUR own opinions on stuff, dont just take people's word for it.
cripes..
p.s. - to see what an ass of asses "AntnyMD" is, look in the "off topic" section of the forum, and look for the subject line called "aaliyah = dead".
thank you. have a nice day

Whatever you say, AntnyMD. I'm done with this topic. Just remember, that high horse you're on will die someday, putting you at the level of the rest of us.
I'm just glad I posted my question in the appropriate "off topic" area, or else I'd be really in trouble.
Oh, wait, I think I hear someone posting a repeat question somewhere; you'd better get out there and right that wrong now while you still can...
