    Is it possible to encode mpeg1 in virtualdub?

    If possible, which codec should i install ?
    Can I use the mpeg enc. that comes with Tmpeg, in VirtualDub?

    You can load a mpeg 1 in Vdub, but you need to save it back out as a AVI
    If you install the Nimo codec pack, this will give you all the popular codec's

    VirtualDub only renders out avi's or frameserves it's output into an mpeg encoder (such as TMPG, etc.). As King John has stated, it can open any type of media file provided you have the appropriate system codec's installed - hence his links for the Nimo pack - which is a very comprehensive pack of codecs.
