Hi I'm am seeking help burning a vcd using panasonic mpeg encoder, virtual dub, and easy cd creator 5. My problem is I am trying to make a VCD of some old cartoons I have .avi files of (He-man, Thundercats, so on...) When I encode the file it makes a mpg but the picture is gone and only left with audio a black screen and a status bar that moves. It's the correct size but there never is a picture. I have tried saving the audio as a wav and using it or just using the audio and video off the avi and I never can get a mpg with video to burn. Can't seem to figure it out.
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
sockey

1. Launch Virtualdub
2. Load avi file
3. Select Audio --- Full Processing Mode
3. Select Audio --- Compression --- no compression PCM
4. Select Audio --- Conversion --- convert to 44100 Hz
5. Select File --- Save WAV
Then I launch Tmpgenc and select the avi file as video input and the wav file as audio input. Select Load and the correct VCD template. The resultant file should be ready for the VCD burn.

Thanks,
Someone had told me to use mpeg layer 3 as compression instead of the other so I'll give it a try. I Appreciate it. -
Ok,
I tried those settings in virtual dub and the resulting encoded file didn't have a picture either. I'm using Panasonic's Mpeg encoder and noticed in the advanced settings there were the options: natural image, c/g animation, and mpeg layer. Tried all three and nothing will give me video. The original .avi file has audio and video. Can't figure it out why it won't encode right. I've ruled out the possibility that it is just a corrupt file because it keeps happening on all of the ones I try to encode. I'm grateful for any assistance. -
Did you use TMPGEnc, on Panasonic, or both? Anyway:
If that does not work try to change the codec reader settings in TMPGEnc under Option->Environmental settings->VFAPI plug-in and right click on the DirectShow Multimedia File Reader and increase the priority to 1 or 2 and try open the video.Hello. -

I downloaded the different encoder, the settings worked and things are perfect now. Thanks for all the help to everyone who responded.
