Hello all,
is there any way of how to burn mpg-videos on a DVD-R which plays on a 'regular' DVD-player?
I have a couple of times tried to burn the mpg's on a data DVD using Nero, but my DVD-player didn't play the file.
As to my knowledge there is a way of burning videos onto a DVD disc without this nerv-killing conversation process which Nero does, isn't there?
Any helpful hint gratefully appreciated on this
Thank you

If the mpg is dvd compliant(www.videohelp.com/dvd#tech) you can author it to a real dvd-video without reconversion. Try simple dvd creator.

	Welcome video-fan

If the mpegs are compliant there should be no need to convert ... some versions of nero have an option you can disable to prevent conversion. They only need to be demuxed and remuxed into vob, again if they are mpeg compliant ... thou nero is not considered the best tool for this type of work ... it dose not handle problematic source files well.

Problematic means video stream breaks or lost / corrupted frames, loud audio pop's, mismatched stream lengths.

Or find a dvd player which has better video format support.

I suspect that the original poster has been burning data discs and his DVD player doesn't like that. He's basically trying to avoid the whole authoring process to save time and it's not working. At least that is what it seems like to me.

	Baldrick,

I have tried Simple DVD Creater but I have problems: when I select a videofile in this program and then click on <AuthorDVD> two subdirectories are being created with one 14 KB vob file. This probably is not enough, is it?

I suspect that my mpegs are not dvd compliant. How can I get them so?

Thanks for any help video-fan video-fan

Some stand alone DVD players will play mpg files written as data to a disc, just as some stand alone DVD players will play DivX/Xvid avi data files. You'll have to check your players user manual to find out.
My old Samsung SH855 would play mpegs, but only after re-naming them from video.mpg to video.avi (no conversion, purely changing the extension), otherwise they wouldn't show up on the playlist.
