So what your asking is is it beter to rip and convert into divx and watch on your comp or view on VCD/SVCD on TV? thats what im guessing. Anways Divx is a lot better looking the Mpeg ON A COMPUTER. But if you plane on making it into a VCD go straight from DVD to MPG it will look better. I ahve no idea about the self boot. I woder why you would even car abnout a self boot all you ahve to do is press paly on your remote.
