  1. I use TMPGEnc to create DVD quality MPEGs and burn these to a regular VCD - sure the file size will limit the length, but I would get the quality I am after - Works well for PC playback.

What I need to know is will it work in a VCD/SVCD/XSVCD compat DVD player such as Panasonic DVR20 ?

  2. It is called mini-DVDs. Click on the "DVD Players" on the left and search for yours and see if it plays mini-DVDs.

  3. Firstly, these are NOT miniDVDs. A miniDVD is burning a DVD type image onto CD-R media. Very few players support this.

What you are making is a high bitrate XVCD.

BTW, an "XVCD compatible" player is an oxymoron. XVCD = non-standard/compliant VCD. You will always be able to make an XVCD that won't play on a particular player.

Most DVD players can play VCDs with bitrates higher than the standard. How high you can go will depend on your particular player.

  4. Ah, sorry. Missed the part that he mentioned his file was burn onto a VCD. My mistake. Anyhow, check the DVD Players Compatibility list and see what others talk about the XVCD on their DVR20. Obviously, YMMV.
