  1. Hi guys,
I've got a strange problem that i hope someone can help me with.

I've been using this site for about a year to help me do the conversion thing, and i've never had any real problems.
I use Flask mpeg followed by TMPGEnc, and burn the result with nero 5.
Thanks to this site, i get great results with my XVCD's, and watch the result using a REALMAGIC MPEG card that has a TV OUT. The resulting image on my widescreen TV is perfect and I'm really very happy with it.

About a month ago, I changed my OS to WinME and added a new hard disk, doubled the RAM and changed my burner to a new fast one. During this installation, I reformatted the old hard disk and reinstalled everything from scratch. Now here comes the problem.

after a conversion with TMPGEnc, I lose control of the realmagic card. When i try to open the software, the screen freezes and i need to reboot.
After the reboot, the situation is the same and i need to reinstall the drivers and software for the card. When installing the card, the system freezes about four or five times before i succeed, so it's annoying.
Last night, I converted two files, without reinstalling the card between the two files, and the second file worked, but the result is a blank screen with the occasional green flash!

It seems, therefore, that after a conversion with TMPGEnc, I lose control of all MPEG functions on the computer. HOW can this be? What can I do about it? Has anybody ever heard of anything so strange?

I would just like to add that after i succeed in reinstalling the card, everything works perfectly until the next conversion.
Please help me!!! If i have to stop converting to xvcd it will be the end of my collection and more or less the end of my world!!

    Thanks in advance,
    tony

  2. I have a similar probelm where most of my XVCD's made using TMPGE start ok with WMP but freeze up if you slide the progress bar.
I started to use other players such as Zoom and discovered they work a bit better.I should also say that even although the movies were freezing up after encoding, the resulting authored VCD played perfect on my DVD.
Have you actually tried a test burn to a CDRW and run it in your DVD to see if its still burning ok?
Did you re-install all the codecs (Nimo Codec Pack for example).
Do you extract audio as a WAV and use as audio source when encoding?

the copies work fine, it's just that
i have to reinstall everything after the conversion.

    thanks for your reply,
but i think we're barking up the wrong tree there.
