  1. I got DVDx and I open the IFO from a DVD(NTSC) then it opens up in the player and seems ok. But when I hit encode it says MMX may not work properly on AMD.Do yu want to continue. I hit yes then it says : MEPGEnc Unable to open program file none. Whats up with this what did I do wrong?

  2. In DVDx choose Settind then Output Settings. When the window opens look for Calculation (4th item in left column) set this to MMX+3DNow for AMD processors. Try this it works with my T-Bird.

What is the quality of the encoding from DVDx?

I got the same error klay51 did, but I didn't mention it. I figure if the software doesnt work or appear to work the first time, screw it. I like to try out new things, but it really has to wow me right away or I just go back to TMPGEnc.

  4. The AMD part of his question may have fooled me as I set mine to just MMX and got the first error but not the second one about unable to open program file. Did you both miss the select output button in the lower right of DVDx?.

As far as quality, I have not run a full movie yet myself just some test clips that appear very good.

  6. DVDx v1.1 currently has some bugs regarding NTSC discs, i'm in talks with the creator of the program to beta test it since I both have NTSC and PAL discs, and he agreed, so i'm waiting for the DVDx v1.2, as he said he fixed the NTSC problem there.

  7. I've had no errors but I have tried DVDx 1.1 on a few short PAL DVD clips and I find the resulting mpg file very poor in quality. Played around with a few of the settings and things only get worse.

I'll be staying with TMPGEnc for VCD's until I can see a vast improvement.

  8. As i've only came across DVDx 1.1 yesterday, I only managed to try it on two movies, one PAL and one NTSC, and as for quality, I didn't notice too much diffrence between it and TMPGEnc in VCD, actually it is the only one that let me do "Lady and the Tramp 2" without Sync problems, even DVD2AVI created a small sync that went big till the end of the movie, so this program defenetly has potential!

  12. Yay While it seems likeits gonna take A LONG time i seems to be working with NTSC disc! An I didnt expect such and UPDTATED release this soon. It has more featres. You can check to see if it is compliant BEFORE you encode. Oh and if u are doing NTSC watch out the deafault resolution is PAL so you hav to change it. This threw me off at first and I thought it still didnt work. ut hey looks like itdoes. Bravo Doom9. So yes DVDx IS all it's cracked up to be(Well I think I havent actually seen the quality so...)
