  1. I am trying to get my Panasonic DVD-RV31 to play a burnt VCD but is just hangs when I try. I am using a Dazzle USB to capture the video and sound. Using the Video Cd format, I capture and save to MPEG1 format. I having been using Roxio Easy VCD creator to convert and burn. VCD disk plays in computer no problem. From what research I've done, the Panasonic player works well with burnt VCD's... but I've had no luck.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

  2. you could try to burn w/EasyVCD
but your mpg-1 file is vcd compliant (standard) ?
remember that vcd files must be mpg1/2 but respecting the frame size 352x280 at 25fps Pal or 352x240 at 29.97fps Ntsc and the bitrate CBR 1150 kbps and audio at 224kbps/44.1khz stereo
give a try and encode your file in tmpegenc w/VCD template and burn w/Easyvcd

  3. You might also try burning with Nero, I've had great success with Nero and NONE with Roxio EZCD5 Platinum.

Also, try burning your disks at a slow speed. I know disks these days say anything upto 32x on them but have you closely inspected a disk burned at 32x with a disk burned at 4x? The tracks are less easy to see on the disk burned at 32x and some DVD players cannot read the information.

  5. Thanks for all your responses!!!
I used tmpegenc to convert the MPEG file to a VCD ready format and viola!! Burnt a VCD with Roxio Easy VCD adn it worked perfectly in the DVD player. Sound and video quality was acceptable. I am now ready to be a VCD burning machine!!!
    Thanks again,
