  1. I would like to know which is the best way (ratio) to capture from analog device (camcorder) to HD, if I make a VCD and an avi-CD movie - so I will have the shortest rendering time and best output? I want to make 2 CDs from holiday-video, one for friend who have a VCD/DVD Player and one who only will watch the movie on pc.

Capture your video from your camcorder using VirtualDub or AVI_IO.

Since you are making a VCD, capture the video at 352x288 (or 352x576 for higher quality). You will be able to improve the quality by applying some filters to the video within VirtualDub, but for the shortest rendering time just encode the captured video directly with TMPGEnc at the standard VCD settings.

The MPEG produced will be compatible with both standalone DVD players and Windows Media Player.
