  1. Here is what I have available:
    Hardware: A G4, G3, a real PC and Pioneer DVDR AO3

    Software: Virtual PC, finalcutpro, QTPro, Dvdstudiopro, other small shareware apps

    What I want to do is take some of the vcds I have, that are in .bin and .cue format (I can also just take the .dat file out if that is necessary to do this) and make a dvd to play in my dvd player with multiple movies on it. The multiple movie part and such with dvdstudiopro is not my problem, but rather getting either the .bin and .cue or the .dat file to an .mpeg and then to mpeg2 (I believe) to put on the dvd. Through converting I would also like to make sure to keep the sound and everything intact either with the movie or as a seperate .ac3 file or whatever. Thanks in advance for any help.

    This is what you can do;
    Convert the .dat file to MPEG2 using Cleaner5 with MPEG charger. Set it to a low quality (for example VCD resolution with a 1.3Mbit/s bitrate) put the sound to MPEG2 layer 2 with 128kbit/s as bitrate. Put them in DVDSP make a nice menu and you're ready to burn!

    I don't think you can use MPEG1 on a DVD because your DVD player will expect it's MPEG2.

    Hope it works

    MPEG-1 *CAN* be used in DVD-Video. This was recently discussed in ripdifferent's forum. I don't remember the details so do a search in their forums.
