For a one hour movie, using NTSC 352x240, Huffy with YUY2, and default settings, it took 4 avi files to capture with virtualdub.
all 4 files totaled 8 GB, which coems to roughly 130 mb a minute. Am I doing something wrong? Should it be that big? Should I use a different codec?
Afterwards I was using TMPGEnc, with the frameserver from Virtualdub, and it took exxactly 2 hours to convert it to a MPEG, anyway to get that faster?
I have a P3 866, 512 ram, win98se, and western digital SE 7200 rpm drive.
Thanks.

Thats about right; for example, a 2 hour 11 minute (640x272) movie that I converted came out to about 24 GB when using HuffyUV.
The only way to get faster encoding is to get a faster computer, or use CCE- which is great for MPEG2 (SVCD), but not so good for MPEG1 (VCD).
BTW - only 2 hours to encode? I have almost the same system, and it takes me about 6-8 hours to encode a 2 hour movie using CCE with 2-pass VBR.You can't fool me, I'm a moron!
