I am trying to encode a dvd9 to fit on a dvd-r. After I use dvd2avi my d2v file is only like 750k. (yes that K) and My avi file is like 2.5 gig or something like that. But my vob files that go into it are like 6gig. So I am like what ever, then I use cce to encode them (using the doom9 ccd guide) and my output file is only like 2 gig. So what is wrong with either dvd2avi or cce?
Thanks for any info

Nothing is wrong. The DVD2AVI project is just a text file, that refers to the .vob files. This process is called frameserving.
The filesize of the source and output file depends on the length of the video and the average bitrate. Check the tool section, there are a couple of bitrate calculators. -
OK thanks for the info. How do I know what to set my avg bitrate and my max bit rate and all that. Will theese calculators scan the movie that I am working with and tell me? Or maybe it would tell me what to put in so that it will fit on my dvd-r? I just put in what the cce guide told me to put in, but I find it hard to believe that all movies use the same setting. (also my movie is pretty long so it should be pretty big in size)
Thanks for the info!

i think you should read a couple of diferent guides and familiarize yourself with the techniques. there is too much for you to do and you are bound to make a mistake on the first go. follow a guide step by step first to understand the procedure. then when you see the quality, you can adjust a few settings on on your next encodes. if you try to do a lot of changes with out knowing what you are doing you are just wasting time and maybe even disk. if your source is of good quality then i'm sure you shoild be happy with the results. you can try this one-http://www.doom9.org/mpg/ifoedit-basic.htm. whatever guide you use remember they were made for people who don't know anything about the process or for experienced people who want another way to do a certain step.
